Wow! I didn’t even know OVERKILL had a new record coming out! So when I received this, I was a bit shocked, and to be honest, not really looking that forward to listening. See, Bobby's vocals grate my nerves like a fat cheerleader. It/they are just not right. However, being a guy who holds true to his promises, I listen and review anything that someone sends me. Hence the following:
OVERKILL have always had great riffs and the bottom end, held by none other than Mr. D.D. Verni, is always thick and crushing. I have always liked their music, but the vocals! Man, that screaming "HELLO FROM THE GUTTER" is still ringing in my head and that cd is like ten years old. However, I have been told that much like wine, voices get better with age, and Rob Halford can prove that. He sounds better than ever! And Mr. Bobby has really taken a turn for the better, with less ear-fucking shrieking. Once again, the riffing is absolutely awesome, taking me back to the days when a riff was something a song was built on! OVERKILL has put out one serious fucking album!
